I'm at the hospital again tonight. I got here around 5:45 pm. Mom was still here and we all had a good time visiting. I haven't seen dad since Monday morning so to me, he looks much better and has progressed a lot. Mom had dad do some tongue and throat exercises tonight that he is supposed to do multiple times a day. He did a really great job and was able to do them all well. We also asked him a lot of questions and he did pretty darn good with them. He missed a few questions but he was doing really well with opposites. He had a little difficulty thinking of the word "rainbow" when we showed him a picture of a rainbow that one of his grandkids drew him and he had a hard time thinking of different kinds of trees, but overall I can see a big improvement. He wrote a couple of sentences tonight and it was much better than what he had done previously. He also read a card from a family member and did just fine doing that.
He also was able to move his right leg up and down, side-to-side, and he could push against mom's hand. His left leg has just a little bit of movement. Dad no longer is hooked up to oxygen, or really anything else except for the blood pressure cuff. It is very good to see him like this. Dad's voice is also improving. It still sounds a little hoarse but they have been encouraging him to talk at full volume rather than at a whisper.
They were thinking of moving dad from the ICU to rehab today but the doctor decided to wait until Monday because dad's blood pressure is still not quite balanced. Today it was a little low.
Mom said dad's upper body strength is excellent. She said she arm wrestled him and even though she tried, she lost.
